“Hanging outdoor decorations is not an easy task, and if you’re not prepared, it can become tedious and ruin the fun of the festival,” says Adam Pawson, digital director at Safestyle UK.”In 2020, Google searches for ‘how to hang Christmas lights’ peaked from Nov. 29 to Dec. 5, appearing to be the most popular time in the country.”

Christmas lights are hung all over the UK, so it’s important to be familiar with all the relevant safety precautions. Before you start, make sure your lights are suitable for outdoor use and won’t be affected by rainy winter weather to prevent any electrical hazards.
“Like any big task, hanging outdoor Christmas lights can be intimidating, but by getting organized, you can make the job run smoothly,” says Adam.”I suggest you check your lights are working properly before trying to hang them on windows and doors so you can spot any burned out bulbs before they hang at awkward heights. If your lights are powered by a mains supply , you should also check that the source is at an appropriate distance from the surface of your choice.”
It’s easy to enjoy holiday lights, but trying to hang them can be a challenge.First, test the length of the lamp.Whether you want to create a shimmering border or design an icicle effect, it’s important to make sure you have enough wire to reach the full length of the window.
Adds Adam: “Most people are too excited to rush straight into an outdoor Christmas light installation, but the easiest way to avoid mistakes is to test the length of the lights at the beginning.”
Clipper hooks for outdoor Christmas lights are a great way to keep them safe during the holidays.
“One of the more important things to consider for the most impressive results is the distance between each hook,” advises Adam.”Try to place each at regular intervals, leaving enough room to allow for slack. If you’re creating an icicle effect, space the hooks closer together to better support the weight of the light.”
When you’re ready to hang your decorations, grab the ends of the string lights and plug them into a power source. Then, without opening them, slowly work backwards on the prepared windows.
Adam explains: “Try to avoid the cables hanging loose, instead, you should let the lights hang tightly on the hooks without pulling on the sockets. Once you get to the end, make sure everything is neat and evenly spaced.”
It’s time to dazzle your neighbors and turn on the lights!”Step back and look at your lights and make any necessary adjustments if there are any dangling cables or uneven inclination,” says Adam.
